Walter Munoz and Bianca Arce Arrested For Child Abuse

An Arizona mother will likely need help from a Phoenix family lawyer if she wants to keep custody of her two remaining children. KPHO News reports that Bianca Arce and her boyfriend Walter Munoz were both arrested earlier this month after Bianca Arce’s two-year-old son Daniel Resendiz died from a fatal beating that occurred in the couple’s West Phoenix home. The two are currently being held in jail in connection with the incident.

Court documents stated that Walter Munoz hit the toddler until the boy suffered from severe bruising over 80% of his body. The beating happened when Bianca Arce was out of the home, but when she returned to find her son unresponsive, she called 911. The young boy was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Walter Munoz was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse. Bianca Arce was also reportedly booked on child abuse charges for “intentionally and knowingly placing her three children in a situation where they suffered physical injury.” Bianca Arce has two other young children that are currently in the custody of Child Protective Services.

If the mother is convicted of the child abuse charge, it’s possible that she could have her parental rights terminated by the state. FindLaw states that abuse or neglect can be grounds for the involuntary termination of parental rights, which ends the legal parent-child relationship. However, an attorney can often represent a parent in court and help parents keep custody of their children if it is in the child’s best interest.
