Maricopa County Expects 330 New Adoptions on National Adoption Day

This year, families across the country will be celebrating National Adoption Day on Saturday November 20. As stated through, this day is supposed to be a celebration for adoptive families and a day for family courts to open their doors and finalize their adoptions of children from foster care.

Since 2000, more than 30,000 children have reportedly had their adoptions finalized on National Adoption Day. KPHO News reports that Maricopa County currently ranks No. 1 in the nation for the number of adoptions that are finalized on National Adoption Day each year. On Saturday, the county is looking to break its previous record of 278 adoptions on National Adoption Day and have 330 adoptions finalized in court.

There will be 46 judicial officers that will preside over the adoption hearings from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Durango Juvenile Court Center in Phoenix on Saturday. A celebration with food, face painting, balloons, and information tables will also take place outside the courthouse on National Adoption Day.

People that aren’t adopting a child out of foster care on National Adoption Day can still come to the Phoenix celebration to learn more about the legal process of adoption and learn more about how a Phoenix family law attorney can provide assistance in an adoption case. Perhaps prospective parents at Saturday’s event can also learn why people choose to adopt children from foster care and why this type of adoption can be a rewarding experience.
