Did you know that the month of November is National Adoption Month? So if you're thinking about adopting a child, now is the perfect time of year to contact a Phoenix family law attorney and learn more about the legal steps that are involved in the adoption process.

Each year the focus of National Adoption Month changes. This year, the U.S Department of Health and Human Services reports that the purpose of National Adoption Month in 2010 is to raise awareness about the adoption of children and youth from foster care. President Barack Obama wrote in his proclamation for National Adoption Month that there are currently thousands of children in the United States that are in foster care awaiting adoption.

November 20 marks National Adoption Day in the United States, where many celebrations will be taking place around the country. NationalAdoptionDay.org reports that the city of Phoenix will be celebrating National Adoption Day with food, balloons, face painting, and information about adoption. The event starts at 9:00 a.m. in front of the courthouse at 3131 W. Durango Street.

On National Adoption Day, Arizona will reportedly be utilizing over 12 courtrooms and 46 judicial officers rotating adoptions every half hour throughout the day. There's apparently supposed to be 320 adoptions taking place at the Durango Street location on this day.
